Mounties Donates to Liverpool District Men's Shed
Following a major charity poker tournament in July, Mounties presented the Liverpool District Men’s Shed with a match donation of more than $6,700 to assist the community group with enhancing the health and happiness of men.
The fundraiser for the Liverpool District Men’s Shed, a social enterprise that supports the South-Western Sydney community with advancing the wellbeing of their male members, saw more than $3,000 donated by members and guests from the poker tournament. Mounties Group Board of Directors had generously offered to match funds raised on the day, taking the total donation to $6,703.80.
The money raised by Mounties will enable the Liverpool District Men’s Shed to continue to provide a welcoming and safe environment for men to learn new skills, improve their health and work together on a variety of trade-related activities that support the local community.
Liverpool District Men's Shed President, Alvan Freeman, said: “We are extremely grateful to have received this donation from Mounties Group as the monies raised at the Charity Poker Game will help preserve this vital space for the men in our community.”
Kevin Ingram, Mounties Group President said: “The regular poker game held at Mounties was transformed into a major fundraising event and this was exciting to our members and guests as the game had a special purpose. We are delighted to help the Liverpool District Men’s Shed in bringing a much-needed space to men in the local community.”
The Charity Poker Tournament was hosted by APL on Sunday, 2 July and the cheque presentation occurred on Wednesday, 30 August.
